WHAT:               Lowes and Rebuilding Together is kicking off home repair projects nationwide this fall to address critical home needs during cold weather months.  During the course of the fall, Lowe’s will support 65 Rebuilding Together affiliates, including Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada (RTSNV), by helping them achieve their mission of giving low-income homeowners a safe and healthy home.  RTSNV will receive $8,000 in funding to focus on weatherization and energy efficiency upgrades for low-income southern Nevada homeowners.

This weekend, RTSNV will restore two properties; the home of a disabled widow of an army veteran, and the home of a Vietnam army veteran and his disabled wife. Volunteers will provide a number of repairs including, exterior painting and property clean-up, roof and ceiling repairs, as well as plumbing upgrades and replacement of HVAC systems. The updates will help the homeowners maintain their homes, while living safely and comfortably during the winter months.  More than 40 employee volunteers from St. Rose Dominican Hospital will provide the repairs in support of the project.

Since 2007, Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has been an active partner of Rebuilding Together and supports the organization’s work across the country. The grant, totaling $520,000, is part of the overall $2 million Lowe’s has donated to Rebuilding Together’s mission for 2012.
